IEEE ITherm 2022 Health and Safety Protocols

The health and safety of our conference attendees is our top priority. The ITherm 2022 conference Organizing Committee remains vigilant in monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic. ITherm 2022 is planned as an in-person event. We look forward to you joining us in San Diego, CA.

Our community's wellbeing is extremely important to us, and our goal is to host a safe and rewarding in-person conference. We will continue to monitor and adjust our health protocols as needed and will update this page regularly with information about our plans for our attendees, exhibitors, and staff on-site.

Beginning April 1, the State of California has lifted entry requirements for mega-events. See current regulations here. Providing proof of vaccination or negative test results will not be a requirement for entry to ITherm 2022. We will monitor these guidelines closely and provide any updates on this page.

The health and safety of the participants and volunteers alike remains a top priority. With a focus on coming together safely this May, we will be implementing the safety protocols below for all in-person attendees

Before Leaving Home
  • Be sure to monitor your home country/location's travel requirements to stay current in the event of any restrictions or requirements that may prohibit your ability to travel
  • If you feel sick, please stay home. The ITherm community will miss you greatly, but for your recovery, your colleagues' safety, and the health of everyone you may come into contact with, please don't travel.
Do Not Attend the Conference if you
  • Have any COVID-19 symptoms
  • Have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days
  • Have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within 14 days before the event start date
Increased Sanitization and Hygiene

As part of Marriott International's family of brands, the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina have implemented a variety of new protocols and elevated practices, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and keeping with their high standards of cleanliness and commitment to providing excellent service.

  • The Hotel will follow the best practices established in Marriott's Commitment to Clean Program
  • Hand sanitizing products will be made available throughout the event space
  • Appropriate ventilation measures will be implemented as per venue requirements
What You Can Do to Help Onsite
  • Follow the World Health Organization's (WHO) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) guidelines to prevent the spread of infectious diseases at the event
  • Masks and/or face coverings, while not required, protect you and those around you. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends all individuals wear a mask and/or face covering indoors regardless of vaccination status.
  • Discourage physical greetings like handshakes, high fives, fist or elbow bumps, and hugs
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
  • Maintain social distancing between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth
  • If you have fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early
Cancellation Policy

We encourage you to register for in-person attendance only after you have received travel authorization from your sponsor. Once you register, the conference anticipates your participation and incurs financial liabilities for your participation. If a change in your sponsoring organization's travel policy necessitates cancellation after you have registered and paid, standard conference cancellation policies will apply.

Author Registration

At least one of the authors listed on an accepted paper must register for ITherm 2022 by the author's registration deadline. For the paper to be published in the IEEE Xplore proceedings, the paper must be presented at the conference.

If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to Dustin Demetriou, ITherm 2022 General Chair, dwdemetr@us.ibm.com
